Tatarian Maple | Acer tataricum ‘Hotwings’
- There’s no ignoring this tree! As well as the vivid reds and golden yellows of its autumn foliage, deciduous Hotwings is covered with masses of scarlet winged fruits in summer (hence the name)
- Green-white flowers appear in upright panicles throughout spring
- Broad glossy leaves up to 10cm long, bright green in spring and summer before turning red and gold as the seeds fade to brown and fall
- A beautiful and compact specimen tree all year round, ideal for street or lawn planting, or in a mixed border, underplanted with bulbs or low growing perennials
- Hardy down to -20, Hotwings prefers a sunny or partly shaded spot and thrives in any well drained soil
- Low maintenance and easy to grow – any pruning needed should be done from late autumn to midwinter
