‘Octavia’ Long Cane Raspberry Plant
- Some raspberry varieties fruit in June or July, while others fruit in autumn, but ‘Octavia’? It produces its fruit in August, just when the weather is hottest and you most want that refreshing hit of juicy homegrown fruit!
- We supply this variety in the form of long canes, meaning you’ll get fruit in your plant’s first summer (rather than having to wait a year)
- Producing plump raspberries bursting with flavour, if you want to try growing your own raspberries, we’d heartily recommend this variety!
- Before you plant your canes, soak the roots in water for an hour, sprinkle some root grow into the planting hole, then plant your canes in the hole
- What’s that? You like pretty flowers as well as fruit? Today might just be your lucky day, because raspberry varieties like ‘Octavia’ produce charming little flowers before the fruit appears
- We’d recommend creating a simple wire trellis for supporting your raspberry plants as they grow, either fixed to a wall or fence, or strung between two freestanding wooden posts (whichever you’d prefer)
- One of only a small number of raspberry varieties to have been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit (AGM)
- Raspberry plants have been recognised by the RHS as one of its Plants for Pollinators, so you can rely on your canes to attract more bees to your garden
