‘Goutte d’Or’ Fig Tree
- A French fig variety first written about all the way back in the 17th century, ‘Goutte d’Or’ is a naturally compact and shrubby tree notable for its biferous nature (often providing two harvests per year)
- Producing deliciously sweet, yellow-green figs at the start of summer and then again at the season’s end, this variety is small enough to grow in a large container, making it ideal for patios and balcony gardens
- Another feature that makes this fig suitable for growing here in the UK is that it tolerates both wet and cold weather (come on, it wouldn’t be Britain without a mention of the weather…)
- Whack your hand-picked figs in a roasting tray, drizzled with some honey, and let the oven do the rest!
- The tree features gorgeous, deeply lobed and highly recognisable leaves which add more than just a touch of Mediterranean character to any outdoor space
